Activities for All Ages

From your child’s first time on the wall to weekly clubs and birthday parties, Indy is the place for young climbers in North Wales. Minimum age 5 for taster sessions.

Under 7s

Our kids’ slab and beginners’ area is perfect for little ones. Family taster sessions are the best starting point: 90 minutes with an instructor who’ll keep things fun and safe. Minimum age 5 for tasters.

Indy Kids Club runs weekly NICAS-based sessions on Mondays (4:30-6pm) and Saturdays (10:30am-12pm). Builds climbing skills, teamwork and confidence. Bookable in 7-week blocks.

Indy Squad is our club for older young climbers. NICAS-based, focused on technique and competency across all climbing disciplines. Wednesdays 4:30-6pm. Bookable in 7-week blocks.

Climb together as a family. Our family taster sessions give everyone a go on the bouldering, top-ropes and auto-belays with a dedicated instructor. Great for rainy days and school holidays. From under £20 per person.

Family tasters

Our most popular session! 1.5hrs of climbing fun for the whole family with your own private fully qualified instructor giving you a ‘taste’ of all aspects of indoor climbing; bouldering, rope climbing and auto belay. Tailored to everyone’s individual needs and abilities, if you don’t wish to climb you can be shown how to hold the ropes for the kids. All equipment provided. Up to 9 people. Prices from £45 (1 person) to £145 (6-9 people).

Same format as our family tasters but just for the kids, ages 5+. Your kids will have their own instructor who will tailor the session to their individual needs and abilities. Prices from £45 for one child.

Kids climbing clubs and NICAS

Kids clubs / NICAS

Weekly structured climbing clubs following the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (‘NICAS’) at a ratio of just 1:6. Kids clubs have a strong emphasis on personal development, not just their climbing skills but more generally. Together with the social aspect of club climbing these sessions can really bring out the best in your kids.

Indy Kids (ages 7-11) and Indy Squad (ages 11+). £119 per 7-week block (£17 per session). £20 deposit to book.

Holiday kids clubs

Same as our term-time kids clubs but during the school holidays. Can be booked as a one-off session or a block. 1:9 ratio max. Doesn’t follow NICAS but can contribute to NICAS log book and progression. All equipment provided.

Birthday parties at Indy

Birthday parties

Let us take care of entertaining the kids for a birthday party. 1.5hrs of climbing fun for all abilities with a private instructor, all equipment included. We’ll reserve tables for your party food spread so the kids can stay afterwards to eat, socialise and bask in the climbing glory. See our Groups and Parties page for details.

What to Expect

All kids’ sessions are led by our fully qualified and very experienced instructors who will deliver a bespoke climbing experience based on individual and group ability levels. Safety is taken very seriously but risk cannot be completely removed. See participation statement.

Arrival

Head to reception when you arrive. Fill in a group registration form and we’ll take care of the rest.

Gear Up

We’ll fit your child with climbing shoes, a harness and helmet when needed. Everything is included in the session price.

Safety Prep

Your instructor will run through the safety rules and warm everyone up with some easy climbing games.

Climb and Play

Time on the wall! Your instructor will maximise climbing time, guiding the group through bouldering, top-rope and auto-belays and spending more time on the aspects the group enjoys.

Wrap Up

Session done. Grab a drink and snack from the cafe for a refuel, chat about the best bits and watch other climbers from the comfort of your seat.

5 years old for taster sessions (depending on physical capabilities). Kids' club is for ages 7-17.
Yes, for all kids' sessions and tasters, to avoid disappointment. Call us on 01248 716 058 or fill in the booking form. We can sometimes accommodate drop-ins, so it's always worth asking.
It's up to you. It's always worth giving it a go whatever your age or ability level - you'll be completely safe on a rope and we have lots of easy climbs you can try with your kids. If you decide it's not for you, our instructors can show you how to hold the ropes for the kids, which is a great way of getting involved.
Yes. All instructed sessions include shoes, harness, helmets and any other equipment needed.
Comfortable clothes they can stretch in. Avoid anything too baggy, and avoid crop tops as they can make harnesses less comfortable (an extra layer will help with this).
